23Brushes in Collaboration with Palace Presents Art!

23Brushes was my first dream. I suffered a mental health break in 2007. This break took me down a road of darkness, medication, depression, and loss of self. I had always been a creative child and found a paint brush in my hand, broken and lost. I took my son to an arts and craft store and purchased the supplies for him and my bother to explore their art skills. As I'm attempting to be present despite the mental turmoil, I was experiencing that day, I found I forgot I was depressed and had started to laugh and enjoy the activity. I was in shock that the painting gave me such a relief. I was expressing and feeling but in color and not stuck in my head. 

I went on to exploring different mediums to answering art calls, to being published, and exhibited. At one point I found me running a small art studio in the Torpedo Art Factory in Old Town Alexandria. I was so moved by my art journey I wanted to share that with others. So, I started 23brushes, a mobile Paint Nite and art event company. 

My First event was a private paint date I set up for a man's wife who was retiring. The wife was nervous about the transition, and he wanted to remind her of a time when her passions for Art and other things were alive, before Corporate America. She loved it. I knew I had found my gift to the world. 23Brushes has been in operation since 2015 and has survived the pandemic despite our slow down.
